Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) Assay Kit can be used to detect urea nitrogen in serum, plasma, cell culture media, cells and tissue homogenate samples in serum, plasma, urine, saliva and milk using a microplate reader. Urea is produced by the liver as a waste product when protein is digested. Blood from healthy humans typically contain between 6-20 mg/dl (1.8-7.1 mmol/L) urea nitrogen. BUN can be used as an indicator of renal (kidney) health.
