Neuroanatomy
Neuroanatomy is the branch of anatomy that studies the anatomy of the nervous system, that is, the structure, function and organization of the nervous system. The nervous system is one of the most complex systems in the human body and includes the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and nerve ganglia. Neuroanatomy is concerned with how these structures are connected to each other, how signals are transmitted between nerve cells, and how the different parts of the nervous system work together to control bodily and cognitive functions. Neuroanatomists use advanced imaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and microscopy to visualize the structures and functions of the nervous system.
