A semi-synthetic medium used for the for the routine cultivation of fungi, especially Aspergillus, Penicillium, and non-sporulating molds.
Sucrose serves as the only source of carbon while sodium nitrate serves as the sole source of nitrogen. Potassium phosphate buffers the medium. Magnesium sulfate, potassium chloride, and ferrous sulfate are included as nutrients.
Based on the original formulation by Thom & Church (1926), as modified by Thom & Raper (1945).
